KSU Issues Ultimatum to Meghalaya Government Over Stalled Demands

Shillong: The KSU warned the Meghalaya government on Wednesday that it will only entertain talks if they lead to action. The union remains open to a meeting regarding its five-point charter of demands. Still, patience is thin. General secretary Reuben Najiar issued a stern warning against further bureaucratic delay tactics during a press conference following a black-flag bike rally.

A 15-day deadline set by the union expired Tuesday without any official response from the state. Najiar claims the government has failed to provide any formal communication, leaving the union to rely solely on media reports. "We are ready to meet the government if they invite us, but they should not simply call us for a meeting and then ask for more time," Najiar said. He insisted that the union will not stop its agitation until the government officially implements every point on their list.

Transparency remains a major sticking point for the union. Najiar demanded that all future discussions be recorded and that the resulting government decisions be made public. Cabinet Minister and MDA-II spokesperson Wailadmiki Shylla countered that the administration is ready to engage. He claims the government is listening and invited the KSU to step forward to resolve the concerns.
