Kohima: The Kiphire District Congress Committee (KDCC) launched a sharp attack against the Naga People's Front (NPF) on July 23. They slammed the ruling party for defending the crumbling state of roads in the 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency. The KDCC rejected official excuses regarding poor infrastructure. Residents have suffered through these conditions for years despite empty promises. The party is now demanding immediate state action to start reconstruction.
NPF officials recently claimed that public outrage stems from a lack of understanding regarding ground realities. The KDCC fired back at that rhetoric. They argued the government is merely hiding behind administrative procedures. The NPF cited an ongoing land acquisition survey as the primary reason for the delay. The KDCC finds this explanation unconvincing. They are demanding full transparency on the survey status, expected completion dates, total funds allocated, and a firm construction timeline.
The KDCC highlighted that minor repairs only happened because of private efforts. The Yimkhiung Youth Organisation (YYO) teamed up with Likimro Enterprise and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to perform basic maintenance. While the KDCC appreciates their work, they insist that building roads is the government's job. They declared, "Development should be reflected in visible improvements rather than official statements."
The KDCC also lashed out at the NPF for asking citizens to stay quiet. They stated that constructive criticism is a protected constitutional right. Accountability matters. The committee is calling on the state government to stop the spin. They want clear facts on project approvals and budget spending. The Congress committee stands with the people of Pungro. They demand concrete results, not more excuses.
