Kohima: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways sanctioned a massive maintenance project for National Highway-202. Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang announced the move on August 5. Work covers a 244-km stretch across Tuensang, Shamator, Kiphire, and Meluri districts. The contracts last one year. Tendering is finished and work orders drop soon.
Maintenance work splits into nine separate packages. A Phongshi Phom took two packages for the Chare to Km 90 stretch, totaling over 7.7 crore rupees. Other firms snagged the remaining segments. M/s Hi-Tech & Co handles the Km 120-150 section for 4.36 crore. M/s G.B.S. Tech Enterprises manages the Km 150-177 segment. M/s Zeliezhu & Sons secured four packages stretching from Km 177 to Km 283. The contract for the Km 90-120 section remains tied up between Innovative Construction and M/s Chittaranjan Saha & Others.
Rain wrecked these roads. Zeliang told contractors to mobilize fast. He demands strict quality control. "Every contractor must strictly adhere to the specifications and standards laid down in the contract agreement," Zeliang asserted.
Four other highway packages received the green light too. M/s G.B.S. Tech Enterprises won the NH-329A contract. Punia Construction Company will repair the NH-02 stretch near Mokokchung. M/s Zeliezhu & Sons also picked up two additional packages on NH-702A in the Phek Division. Zeliang wants the public to keep watch. Local leaders must ensure the crews stay accountable. The state wants safer travel.
