Kohima: Incessant rainfall triggered massive landslides across Kiphire, strangling movement on key arteries including Officers' Compound Road, Forest Ward, Amahator Road, and Kohima Road below Kiphire village. The slides narrowed road widths to dangerous levels, leaving commuters stranded and residents on edge. More rain threatens to worsen the instability.

Assam Rifles personnel from the 30th Battalion, acting under their Commandant, joined forces with the Home Guards, Civil Defence, and SDRF Kiphire on Monday. They cleared blockages at multiple points to restore access. Despite these efforts, the situation remains dire.

The Officers’ Compound Road construction team issued a stern warning to the District Administration and relevant departments. They described the route as a lifeline for thousands of students, office workers, and transporters. The team stated: "Without immediate intervention, houses along vulnerable slopes may collapse, leading to loss of lives."
