Guwahati: Kamrup Police confiscated 24 kilograms of suspected opium during an anti-drug sweep. The haul carries an estimated street value of 1.6 crore rupees. Authorities took one person into custody at the scene.
This operation falls under the ongoing AssamAgainstDrugs campaign. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the force for the bust. He took to X to confirm the details and demand a deeper look into the supply chain.
Sarma stated, "Continuing our crackdown on the drug network, Kamrup Police recovered 24 kg of suspected opium worth around Rs 1.6 crore. One person has been apprehended and further investigation is underway. Good work Assam Police." Detectives are now working to track the wider links of the drug network.
