Agartala: The All India Forward Bloc is fighting back. The party's Tripura State Coordinating Committee officially opposed the state government's decision to scrub Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's name from a facility at Sadhutila Renters Colony. The institution is currently being upgraded to the Tripura Government Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital.
Officials previously called the site the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose State Homeopathic Hospital. Party leaders argue the change is a slap in the face to history. They claim the omission undermines the massive contributions Netaji made to the Indian freedom struggle and the creation of the Azad Hind Government. It ignores his legacy.
The party demanded an immediate restoration of the old name. They insist that removing his identity disrespects both the man and the nation's freedom fighters. The Forward Bloc has already sent a formal letter to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to lodge a protest. They are pushing the state government to, "reinstate the earlier name of the hospital," to preserve the site's original recognition.
