Agartala: Tripura West Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb secured Rs 50,000 for Agartala resident Soham Paul. This money comes from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund. Paul needs the funds for medical treatment at the Tata Medical Centre in Kolkata.

The Prime Minister Office sent a letter to the hospital director on September 7, 2026. This letter grants the aid in principle. The government will cover 50 percent of the total costs or the sanctioned amount, whichever is lower. Conditions apply to this payout.

Deb stepped in after learning about the family in Ramnagar. He forwarded the medical application directly to the fund. The approval arrived quickly. Deb credited the Prime Minister for the fast response. He stated, "I extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, for sanctioning medical assistance of ₹50,000 from the PMNRF to Shri Soham Pal."

The fund helps families in distress. It serves people with life-threatening health challenges. Many patients in Tripura have received similar help in recent years. This aid acts as a primary safety net for citizens across the state.
