North Tripura DM Promotes Handloom Training for Rural Women

Agartala: District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran visited the Juri Textile Unit at Jubarajnagar to inspect handloom training for local women. Members of Self-Help Groups are mastering Chittaranjan Looms under the watchful eye of instructors from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission. The work is hard. These women now turn traditional craft into high-quality fabric meant for competitive markets.

Chandran spoke directly to the trainees during her visit. She pushed them to see this work as a real path toward social and economic independence. The goal is simple: turn these SHG Didis into self-reliant entrepreneurs. This project aims to blend modern skill development with the area's rich cultural history to create stable, long-term jobs.

Officials from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission claim this effort builds a model for inclusive growth. Locals already view the program as a major shift for the community.
