Guwahati: The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council wants a massive pay day. Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa announced plans to hike annual revenue from Rs 120 crore to Rs 500 crore on July 20. He spoke at a press conference held at Vajpayee Bhavan in Haflong.
Gorlosa credited the Assam Budget 2026-27 for this path forward. He praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah for the plan. The budget focuses on women, youth, tourism, healthcare, and roads. "The budget lays special emphasis on women's empowerment, youth development, tourism, healthcare and road connectivity," Gorlosa stated.
Big goals lie ahead. Haflong MLA Rupali Langthasa and BJP district president Dhrity Thaosen joined the announcement. The council intends to stop relying on external funding by hitting this high target. Gorlosa believes this money will fast-track infrastructure and public welfare across the hill district.
