Guwahati: The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council plans a massive financial shift. Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa announced a target to hike annual revenue from Rs 120 crore to Rs 500 crore. He shared this goal on July 20 at a press conference held at Vajpayee Bhavan in Haflong.
Gorlosa praised the Assam Budget 2026-27 for its focus on the Dima Hasao district. He credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah for the state plan. The budget highlights road connectivity, tourism, healthcare, youth development, and women's empowerment. Haflong MLA Rupali Langthasa and BJP district president Dhrity Thaosen joined the briefing.
The council wants less reliance on outside cash. Gorlosa believes stronger internal revenue allows for better project execution and faster infrastructure building. He described the budget as a "balanced, people-centric and development-oriented financial roadmap." The council intends to fast-track welfare initiatives to ensure sustainable growth across the hill district.
