Itanagar: The North Eastern Council finished 82.41 crore worth of projects across Arunachal Pradesh during July and August. These works cover healthcare, road links, rural infrastructure, horticulture, and education. Officials confirmed the figures on Friday, September 4.
The council funded these ventures through the Scheme of NEC and the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme. Districts across the state benefited from the capital injection. Cash flowed to multiple sectors. The council also pushed out 15 crore for current projects involving agriculture, connectivity, education, and saving indigenous languages.
Lower Siang district saw a 14.38 crore upgrade to the 40-bed district hospital at Likabali. The renovated facility now houses an operation theatre, maternity ward, blood bank, and emergency diagnostic gear. In Roing, the Dibang Valley district, workers finished boys and girls hostels for 5.17 crore.
Other developments include community infrastructure in the Hunli-Desali block of Lower Dibang Valley for 4.74 crore and in the Taliha block of Upper Subansiri for 4.95 crore. Tourism also got a boost with the 1.8 crore Tissa viewpoint project in Tirap. West Siang district saw a 2.19 crore bamboo plantation across 200 hectares of jhum and fallow land.
The council notes this plantation provides an alternative to shifting cultivation. It aims to "promote sustainable livelihood opportunities" for locals in Hikam and Muro areas of Tadin village.

The council also wrapped up orange and cardamom plantation work at Keojoring and Rava villages in Nacho circle. This effort cost 1.98 crore.
Two road corridors worth 39.29 crore also hit the books under the NESIDS scheme. Crews finished a 7.2 kilometer double lane stretch linking Pokriana to nearby villages, providing a transport lifeline for roughly 16,185 residents.
