Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein demanded total accountability for every cent of public spending. The Budget Committee of the eighth Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly held its first meeting on Thursday. The stakes are high. Speaker Tesam Pongte chaired the session while Mein attended in his official roles as Finance, Planning and Investment Minister.

Mein pushed for tight financial oversight to make sure government resources serve the public interest. He stated that the committee's proceedings "would be important for budgetary scrutiny and strengthening financial management in the state." The group is now tasked with vetting the state's finances to ensure government funds remain under strict control.
