Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein confirmed that a 51-foot bronze statue of Lord Parshuram is nearing completion at Parshuram Kund in Lohit district. The state plans to officially reveal the massive figure on January 15, 2027, to coincide with Makar Sankranti. Workers are currently finishing the statue and site beautification.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the site on May 21, 2022. The VIPRA Foundation funded the statue and supported its installation, following a two-year roadshow campaign titled Abhinandan Arunachal. Officials expect the site to attract thousands of visitors. The project aims to boost spiritual tourism while preserving cultural heritage.
A promotional Sri Parshuram Kund Amantran Yatra will drum up support before the unveiling. The journey kicks off in Ayodhya on December 4 and hits Namsai on December 23. It aims to bridge regional gaps. Mein noted, "As the statue nears completion, we discussed plans for its grand unveiling on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti next year." The government plans to keep upgrading local infrastructure for pilgrims.
