Shillong: Nongkseh Sport and Cultural Club dismantled Kuppuraj FC 4-1 during their I-League 3 debut on October 22. The match at the SSA Football Stadium saw the home side ignite after halftime. They scored three times in eight minutes to bury their opponents. Owanijuh Pajuh broke the deadlock in the 38th minute. Kynsailang provided the assist, and Pajuh finished from the edge of the box to send Nongkseh into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri took over after the restart. He doubled the lead in the 50th minute. Five minutes later, he struck again to push the score to 3-0. Ieitlang Syiemlieh hammered home the fourth goal in the 58th minute. The onslaught forced Nongkseh to make five substitutions to protect their lead. Substitute Shano Tariang looked to add more, but the Kuppuraj goalkeeper stayed sharp.
Kuppuraj finally found a lifeline in the 88th minute. A defensive blunder by Kynsailang Khongsit handed the ball to Jaymz Bryan Pale, who maneuvered past goalkeeper Wanteilang Malngiang to score. Pale's strike served as a mere consolation. Nongkseh coach might reflect on the error as the team looks ahead. The tournament resumes on October 24. Kuppuraj FC plays Lakecity FC at 9 am. Nongkseh squares off against Chhaygaon FC at 5 pm.
