Meghalaya Official Shidalin L Marshillong Promoted to National Referee

Shillong: Shidalin L Marshillong now stands as a Category 5 national assistant referee. She cleared the Level 5 practical exam for women officials to secure the promotion. The All India Football Federation confirmed her new rank on September 22. AIFF Head of Referees S Suresh stated, "Marshillong cleared the examination along with two officials from Nagaland." Her upgrade took effect immediately.

This status grants her authority to officiate national-level football matches. Marshillong is not the only local talent moving up the ranks. Meghalaya is seeing a surge in national-level match officials. Referee Pipilmoris Wanniang, referee Pynskhemhame Mawthoh, and assistant referee Jespar Syiemlieh also hold Category 5 status.

The Meghalaya Football Association pushes for better state sports infrastructure. They work with the state government to run grassroots programs and senior competitions. The association also focuses on training officials and hosting major tournaments to boost women's football in the region.
