Shillong: Nongkseh climbed to third place in the Shillong Premier League standings after a 3-0 win against Sawmer at the SSA Stadium on September 28. This marks the third straight victory for the side. They now hold 13 points from seven matches, edging past Mawlai who sit at 12 points.

Sawmer stayed competitive for the opening half hour. The defense finally cracked in the 30th minute when Kitboklang Pale controlled a long ball, bypassed defender Khrawkupar Tamu, and drilled a left-footed shot into the goal. Seven minutes later, Hardy Cliff Nongbri whipped a corner to the back post. Mebankhraw Wahlang rose above the pack and headed the ball into the net.

Sawmer goalkeeper Pyrshangbanbha Dkhar showed grit. He stopped two dangerous shots before the break to keep his team within reach. The team struggled to find a rhythm, though, as Nongkseh continued to dominate the pace of play. Chesterpaul Lyngdoh and Shano Tariang both missed chances early in the second half.

Wanshanlang Dkhar nearly put Sawmer on the board in the 70th minute when his free-kick rattled the crossbar. It was their closest call of the match. Nongkseh locked up the win just two minutes before the final whistle. Kitboklang sprinted into the box and cut the ball back to Hardy, who finished the play with a low strike. Regarding the tactical shift, a team representative noted, "Nongkseh extended their winning run to three matches with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sawmer."

Sawmer remains in sixth place with nine points. Mawlai plays Meghalaya Police at 3pm on September 29.
