Imphal: Manipur is getting a cash infusion. The Union Government released an extra Rs 682 crore in advance tax devolution to the state on August 1. This money hits the accounts ahead of the regular monthly payout scheduled for August 10. The move comes as part of a larger national release totaling Rs 1,09,019 crore distributed across all states.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh welcomed the funds. He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the assist. In a social media post, the Chief Minister said, "This timely support will significantly strengthen our development initiatives and accelerate the state's progress." He thanked the Union government on behalf of all Manipur residents for the ongoing financial backing.
This is the second advance installment in under a year. Back on October 1, 2025, the Centre pushed out Rs 1,01,603 crore nationally, with Manipur receiving Rs 727 crore. The current share of Rs 682 crore sits Rs 45 million lower than that previous payment. Officials state the goal remains clear: help states fast-track capital spending and priority work.
Other regions also saw big gains. Uttar Pradesh grabbed the top national spot with Rs 19,208 crore. Across the northeast, Assam led the pack with Rs 3,552 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at Rs 1,476 crore and Tripura at Rs 699 crore. Meghalaya took in Rs 688 crore, while Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim received Rs 615 crore, Rs 524 crore, and Rs 365 crore respectively.
