Manipur Government Approves Major Dialysis Facility and Landowner Payouts

Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet approved a 70-bed dialysis centre at the TB Hospital in Imphal East. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh chaired the meeting on September 23. Government spokesperson Dr. Sapam Ranjan confirmed the plan. The unit falls under the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences. It aims to cut wait times for patients needing regular treatment.

The facility operates under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Beneficiaries of the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang scheme get free care. Sapam noted that existing government capacity falls short. "The 70-bed facility will augment the state's existing dialysis infrastructure and improve access to treatment," he said. This addition addresses the spike in demand across the state.

Cabinet members also cleared new compensation for landowners hit by power transmission lines. This aligns with the revised Right of Way framework. For projects funded by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, or railways, owners get 200 per cent of land value for tower bases. The transmission corridor path fetches 30 per cent of the value.
