Imphal: The Indian government released Rs 1,09,019 crore in advance tax devolution on Saturday, August 1. Manipur claimed Rs 682 crore of that total. This cash infusion arrives before the standard monthly payment due on August 10. The move aims to bankroll infrastructure and capital expenditure across the country.
Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh praised the federal injection. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Writing on social media, the Chief Minister noted, "This timely support will significantly strengthen our development initiatives and accelerate the state's progress." He extended his gratitude on behalf of all Manipur residents.
This marks the second such advance installment in under a year. The Centre issued Rs 1,01,603 crore back on October 1, 2025. At that time, Manipur received Rs 727 crore. The current share is Rs 45 crore lower than the previous payout. The federal government distributes 41 percent of collected taxes to states across 14 installments every financial year.
Nationally, Uttar Pradesh grabbed the largest slice at Rs 19,208 crore. Bihar followed with Rs 10,845 crore. Other notable allocations included Madhya Pradesh with Rs 8,010 crore, West Bengal with Rs 7,866 crore, Maharashtra with Rs 7,022 crore, and Rajasthan with Rs 6,460 crore. Odisha received Rs 4,819 crore, Andhra Pradesh got Rs 4,597 crore, Karnataka secured Rs 4,504 crore, Tamil Nadu took Rs 4,466 crore, and Gujarat earned Rs 4,094 crore.
Regional figures for the Northeast and others showed a wide spread. Assam received Rs 3,552 crore, followed by Arunachal Pradesh with Rs 1,476 crore. Tripura took Rs 699 crore, and Meghalaya saw Rs 688 crore. Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim received Rs 615 crore, Rs 524 crore, and Rs 365 crore respectively. Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Uttarakhand rounded out the mid-range earners, while Goa, Punjab, Telangana, Kerala, and Himachal Pradesh also received specific tranches.
