Imphal: Maring and Tangkhul community leaders from Tengnoupal district met with Manipur Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh at the Secretariat on Thursday. The delegation pressed the state to fix deep-seated infrastructure, health, and security failures in Machi Block. Jajo Sylvester Headman, Wairok Hangshing of the Maring Uparap Assembly, and Bosco Maring led the talks.

The group demanded better roads and bridges to link isolated villages. They also pushed for the local Primary Health Centre to be upgraded into a Community Health Centre. The current facility cannot handle the local population's needs.

Law and order remains a major worry. Machi Block Police Station relies on just 25 officers to patrol 50 villages. The delegation requested more boots on the ground to stabilize the region. Furthermore, they demanded security for the Bank of Baroda branch, the only bank operating in the block. They asked for a community hall in every village to host local meetings.

The Chief Minister promised action. On X, Singh noted: "The Government is resolute in addressing the concerns of all communities, ensuring their safety and well-being, and advancing inclusive development, peace and stability across Manipur."
