Imphal: The Zeliangrong United Front is standing by its claims that the NSCN-K (Niki) and NSCN-IM are running joint operations. The Front rejected a November 5 statement from the NSCN-K (Niki) group that denied the partnership. ZUF Secretary of Information and Publicity, Louis Gangmei, stated the two groups signed a Memorandum of Understanding on June 30, 2026. This pact sparked a wave of violence in the region.
Three violent clashes prove this alliance exists. On October 6, Tadulung Kamei of the Niki group suffered injuries during a fight. Later, NSCN-IM Lt. Ringteneine Riamé died on October 28. Then, Kamson Gang’s Lt. Aihung Khumba was killed on November 4. The ZUF argues the Niki group formed this alliance without permission from their own leadership.
Tensions remain high. The ZUF warned they would handle any retaliation with an "equal and just reaction." They accused the NSCN-IM of prioritizing wealth and power over the Naga people. The Front asked the public to ignore manipulative claims and stay focused on historical Naga goals.
