Kohima: Nagaland Power Minister KG Kenye announced the state collected 324.81 crore rupees in power revenue during the 2025-26 fiscal year. He shared the figures during the ninth session of the 14th Legislative Assembly after MLA Naiba Konyak asked for a report. All collected funds go directly to the state government through Treasury Challan under Head of Account 8782-00-102-01-00.
The department is pushing hard on infrastructure upgrades. Workers have already installed more than 57,300 smart meters as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. Officials aim to finish installing 3,17,210 smart meters by February 2027. This tech shift drives the department's optimistic outlook. "With the successful implementation of this initiative, the Revenue collection for FY 2026-27 projected at Rs. 400 Cr. is expected to be achieved," Kenye stated.
Power reaches 2,06,803 households across Dimapur, Chumoukedima, Kohima, Mokokchung, Tuensang, and Phek. These users generated 146.70 crore rupees in revenue. While the government provides meters for free under the scheme, residents still pay for cables and fuses. Monthly bills follow rates set by the Nagaland Electricity Regulatory Commission for both prepaid and postpaid users.
