Kohima: Persistent rains triggered heavy flooding that destroyed a temporary bridge over the Dzumha River. The span sat between Jharnapani and the Molvom/Peren road. Dimapur Police Commissioner Aotula T Imchen immediately blocked all vehicle traffic across the site for public safety. She stated, “This advisory shall come into force with immediate effect.”
Meanwhile, the Electrical Division in Dimapur plans to cut power intermittently across various sectors. Executive Engineer Lhuvoyi confirmed the outages are necessary for the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme. Crews will install new lines and upgrade distribution transformers to stabilize the grid. Officials asked residents to remain patient because “this exercise shall continue till the completion of all works.”
Separately, the Federal Government of Nagaland and the Naga National Council scheduled a major meeting. Leaders will convene at the Transit Peace Camp in Kohima on August 31 at 10 am. The Ministry of Rali Wali requested attendance from all central and regional authorities. High-ranking Naga Army officers, along with leaders from the Naga Women Federation and Naga Youth Federation, must also appear.
