Kohima: A Nagaland Legislative Assembly committee is heading to Dimapur on July 31. Led by K Tokugha Sukhalu, the group will consult with Dimapur Municipal Councilors, colony chairmen, and local gaon buras. They are reviewing the Nagaland Municipal Act 2023 and the 1978 Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act. All committee members must attend.
Mokokchung faces traffic chaos. Deputy Commissioner Thsuvisie Phoji issued a travel advisory after National Highway-2 collapsed between Chuchuyimlang and Unger. These rules stand until further notice. Drivers must use specific detours through Impur Junction and neighboring villages depending on their destination. Payments for 2026-27 are already moving.
David Gangmei, a former ZUF (J) secretary, joined the NSCN-K (Niki) group. Gangmei claimed he grew disillusioned after two rounds of peace talks with the central government. He said his former organization "has no vision for the Nagas as a whole." He now aims to work toward sovereignty under his new leadership.
