Kohima: The Nagaland Gaonbura Federation Peace Committee (NGBFPC) wants a formal ceasefire. They are pushing the Government of India and the NSCN-K (Angmai-Mulatonu) to lock in a structured peace deal. This follows an October 22 meeting in Nay Pyi Taw between the NSCN-K and Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiation Committee.
The federation believes this development points toward reconciliation. They think long-standing gripes can fade with enough effort. "Such an initiative would help reduce hostilities, build mutual trust and create an environment conducive to meaningful political dialogue," the group stated. The NGBFPC has long called for India to open a direct line of communication with the group.
They now urge both sides to show grit. Leaders need to display political will for the sake of the people. This move aims to curb fighting and bring stability to Naga-inhabited areas. The committee maintains that peace is a job for everyone. They hope this Myanmar-based push will serve as a spark for lasting order.
