Kohima: The Government of India and the NSCN-K (Niki) extended their ceasefire for another year. They finalized the deal in New Delhi on September 7. Officials met to review the existing pact. It was business as usual.
A press release from the NSCN-K (Niki) Ministry of Information and Publicity stated the meeting "was successfully concluded" with the signing of the agreement. The two parties committed to keeping the peace. They intend to work through peaceful dialogue and mutual understanding.
Abel Zingrhu Thuer, the supervisor for the Ceasefire Supervisory Board, led the insurgent delegation. He signed the documents alongside Ameka Achumi, the secretary for the board. The Government of India sent a team led by Niraj Kumar Bansod, the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
