Kohima: Lieutenant General A Raman, the new Longvibu of the NSCN (IM) Eastern Flank, says the ceasefire with the Government of India is dead. He made these remarks during a July 29 address at the Mt Horeb Camp. The commander claims the truce has been void since India issued an ultimatum between August and October 2019 that blocked a separate Naga flag and constitution.
Raman accuses New Delhi of abandoning the 2015 Framework Agreement. He argues that two decades of talks have produced no justice. “The Government of India (GoI) has betrayed the Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015... it has imposed its might to suppress our rights,” he told the crowd.
The commander warned that Naga forces must now resume armed resistance to protect their sovereign existence. He cited the 2019 ambush in Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh, which killed Tirong Aboh. Raman blamed the order on former Longvibu General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray. He alleged that Shimray betrayed his own soldiers by scapegoating them for the assassination, shattering trust within the military chain of command.
Raman also attacked rival Naga factions for colluding with Indian authorities. He accused these groups of trying to keep Naga politics inside the Indian Constitution. He finished his address by urging his soldiers to ignore pressure from these adversaries. The nation is still waiting for its destiny, he warned.
