Central Nagaland Tribes Council Pushes for Ceasefire with NSCN-K

Kohima: The Central Nagaland Tribes Council is calling for a formal truce between the Government of India and the NSCN-K Ang Mai faction. This push follows a successful round of talks between the Ang Mai delegation and Myanmar's National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee in Nay Pyi Taw on October 22. The council now wants New Delhi to step up.

Decades of fighting have hurt border communities. These conflicts stalled trade, infrastructure, and basic welfare for residents. The council stated, "Decades of conflict have placed an enormous strain on border communities, hindering infrastructure development, trade, and public welfare."

Leaders believe peace requires bringing all armed groups into constructive dialogue. The CNTC claims a formal ceasefire would boost regional harmony and end armed confrontations. They urged both the Indian government and the Ang Mai leadership to show political foresight. Ending the violence remains the top priority for long-term stability.
