Kohima Officials Ban Night Parking for Road Construction

Kohima: Kohima district officials shut down street parking between PHQ Junction and the Naga Hospital Authority of Kohima. The ban runs daily from 6 pm to 6 am. It takes effect immediately. This restriction covers segments along NH-02 and NH-29 to clear the way for road crews.

District Magistrate B Henok Buchem issued the order following a request from the Executive Engineer of the PWD (NH) Division-I. The work targets a specific stretch of the old NH-39, ranging from the Jotsoma Bypass Junction at Chainage Km 172+900 to the Lerie Gate at Km 185+540. M/s S. SEMP & Co. holds the contract for the bituminous road laying project.

The Magistrate claimed the move is "in the interest of public safety and timely completion of the project." Authorities warned drivers that any vehicles left in the zone during these hours will be towed. Owners will also face penalties under the law.
