Kohima: The Government of Naga National Council, Democratic Socialist Republic of Nagaland, issued an October 29 press release calling for the immediate implementation of the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland. They want the state to protect indigenous rights. The group claims the Nagaland government ignores employment gaps for youth in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland. Local kids leave home for work. The group said, “The Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) must be implemented in Nagaland without further delay.”
They demand accountability for state silence on these labor issues. The organization also addressed the recent shift in the Indo-Naga peace talks. Keviletuo Kiewhuo reportedly took over as coordinator, replacing Gen (Retd) Anthony Ningkhan Shimray. The group wants to know how officials picked Kiewhuo for this high-stakes role. They also want an impartial look at rumors regarding financial influence in key appointments.
Leadership must value merit. The group insists on experience and genuine service. Finally, they spoke on Sunday business shutdowns. They argued that if the public observes faith or community values through these closures, others should treat the decision with respect. Avoid conflict over these matters.
