Guwahati: Assam police detained Mobarak Ali of Juria following a death threat posted against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Facebook. The post claimed someone would kill the Chief Minister in exchange for money. Police launched a search for Ali after the message surfaced online. Officers eventually tracked him down and established contact.

Ali traveled from Kerala by train to turn himself in at the Juria Police Station. This move came after local authorities searched his home during their investigation. Ali denies any link to the threat. He maintains he never wrote or even read the post in question. He claims a malicious group framed him to cause trouble. "I did not do this. I have not even read what was written. Some malicious group has conspired to frame me," Ali told reporters. He also rejected media reports surrounding the case as false.

Investigators are now working to identify the true author of the Facebook post. They must determine if Ali played any actual role in the scheme. The probe remains active as police look into the circumstances of the threat.
