Guwahati: A court granted police five days to grill Abdul Mutaleb. Officers hauled him before a judge on Sunday following his arrest in Bhuragaon. Investigators picked him up in Morigaon district after a digital manhunt. He is in the hot seat now.

The trouble started Saturday. During a live broadcast of Independence Day festivities in Guwahati, a sinister comment popped up on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Facebook page. Mutaleb allegedly offered to kill the Chief Minister for Rs 1 crore. He included his phone number. The post also featured a slogan reading "Pakistan Zindabad" and other slurs directed at the state leader.

Police tracked the account immediately. They believe this custody period will help them dig into his motives and figure out exactly why he made such a public threat. Officers are sifting through the evidence to see who else might be involved or if he acted alone.
