Guwahati: Locals caught a fugitive at Beltola Tiniali in Guwahati early Monday, August 17. The man, identified as Faruk Abdullah, allegedly fled Barpeta to avoid arrest in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case. He was on the run. Residents swarmed him after noticing suspicious behavior.

The crowd detained Abdullah and found several ATM cards in his possession. They called the cops. A team from the Hatigaon Police Station arrived quickly and took the suspect into custody. He is now being held for questioning regarding the open case in Barpeta.

Authorities are looking into why he carried multiple ATM cards. Investigators want to know if these cards link to cybercrimes, though police admit, "his alleged involvement in any such activity has not yet been established." Officers are tracing his movements from Barpeta to Guwahati to piece together his timeline. Future legal action depends on what they uncover during this interrogation.
