Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu launched Shiksha Yatra: From Challenges to Aspirations at the Jyoti Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir in Guwahati. The move aims to drag out-of-school children back into the classroom for the 2026-27 financial year. It focuses on identifying kids who quit school or rarely show up.

Samagra Shiksha Assam will deploy District Quality Managers and Education Volunteers to track these students. They will funnel those who need help into residential or non-residential Special Training Centres and the Open School system. The state is casting a wide net. A massive survey runs from August 20 to September 23, 2026, featuring 2,862 surveyors fanned out across the state.

Officials emphasize that the goal is simple. Pegu stated, "The initiative seeks to ensure that no child is left outside the education system and that every child gets an opportunity to continue their education and build a better future." They expect this effort to close the gap for every student left behind.
