Guwahati: Assam will provide free replacement textbooks to students who lost their learning materials during the recent floods. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced the initiative on July 25 after inspecting damage reports from across the state.
Pegu directed the Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation to fast-track production immediately. Schools are closed, but relief is coming. The government ordered all Inspectors of Schools and District Elementary Education Officers to report their exact inventory needs right away.
Total resupply is scheduled for the hardest-hit districts of Charaideo and Sivasagar. Workers will dispatch the books the moment school doors reopen to prevent further learning gaps. Pegu remains focused on keeping classrooms functional despite the weather. Regarding the state effort, Pegu stated, "education must continue even in the face of adversity."
