Guwahati: A 20-year-old railway worker died in Dibrugarh on Friday. Sarfaraz Sheikh, a laborer from West Bengal, suffered a fatal electric shock while performing maintenance on an electric line in Chaulkhiwa. The current killed him instantly.

Witnesses confirmed the power stayed on during the job. A local resident noted, "The power supply had reportedly not been switched off at the time, resulting in the worker receiving a fatal electric shock. The young worker died in the incident."

The death triggers urgent questions about railway safety protocols. Officials failed to disconnect the live line before sending the worker into danger. Investigators are now scrutinizing the lack of coordination and the missing precautionary measures that led to this tragedy.
