Assam Postpones Final Exams Following Severe Floods

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu confirmed that state final examinations will start later than planned this year. Severe floods disrupted the academic schedule across the region. Pegu broke the news while visiting the Darrang district for a school opening. It is a necessary shift to keep students on track.

The Assam State School Education Board, Division-I, issued new deadlines to make up for lost time. Regular classes for Class X students will now run until February 22, 2027. Class XII students will remain in the classroom until March 8, 2027. Both the floods and ongoing Census-related activities caused these interruptions. Authorities want to ensure kids finish their full syllabus before testing begins. The board stated the shift is meant to ensure that "students get adequate classroom instruction and sufficient time to complete their syllabus before appearing for the board examinations."

Pegu toured Deomarnai during his official trip. He was joined by MLA Parama Raj for the inauguration of a new academic building at Deomarnai Higher Secondary School. The pair checked four other local sites: Deomarnai College (Junior), Deomarnai Graduate College, Deomarnai Girls’ Higher Secondary School, and Deomarnai B.Ed College. They spent time talking with students and inspecting the local infrastructure. The state will release the final exam dates later.
