Agartala: Tripura Legislative Assembly leaders finalized plans for an upcoming session during a Business Advisory Committee meeting on Friday. The gathering took place at the Assembly Conference Hall to map out the agenda and schedule. Lawmakers will meet on August 27, 28, and 31.

Speaker Rampada Jamatia led the meeting. Attendees included Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, ministers Ratan Lal Nath, Sushanta Chowdhury, and Animesh Debbarma, alongside Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhary. The group debated how to allocate time for the session.

The committee members pushed for a productive, disciplined floor. They want members to have enough time to air grievances regarding state issues. Officials hope for meaningful debate. The committee members expressed "the hope that constructive discussions and deliberations in the House would contribute to making the session meaningful and effective in the interest of the people of the state."

This session focuses on long-term progress. Lawmakers aim to prioritize public welfare and Tripura's growth during the three-day window.

Speaker Rampada Jamatia confirmed the session starts at 11 am. He noted the schedule avoids weekend breaks by skipping the middle of the week. While no formal bills are on the table yet, officials might drop some during the session.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman already locked in a short-notice discussion regarding smart meters and electricity bills. Jamatia said the House has admitted the request, and other public interest notices could hit the floor before proceedings start. On the push for a paperless Assembly, the Speaker admitted the transition needs more time to iron out the bugs.
