Assam Chief Minister Sarma Pushes for Federal Flood Aid in Delhi

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held talks with federal leadership in New Delhi this Friday, August 21. He met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi to address urgent state priorities. Flood recovery topped the agenda.

Sarma briefed Sitharaman on the state's flood response and current rehabilitation plans for displaced families. The Finance Minister pledged federal support to help victims rebuild. On the platform X, Sarma noted his appreciation for her consistent backing. "It is always a pleasure to meet Hon'ble Finance Minister Smt @nsitharaman Ji, who has consistently been a strong champion of Assam's interests and aspirations," Sarma wrote. He stated the minister listened with sensitivity.

The Chief Minister then met with Joshi, who manages the education, consumer affairs, food, and renewable energy portfolios. They reviewed state goals for those sectors. Sarma labeled the session productive and thanked the minister for his positive stance toward Assam. Recovery efforts remain the priority for the state after recent severe flooding.
