Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with top officials on August 16 to overhaul the sluggish pace of state administration. He launched a push to clear a massive backlog of pending cases under Project Sadbhavana. Departments will split into 10 distinct clusters. Each group answers to an Additional Chief Secretary to ensure mission-mode monitoring. A new web portal will track every file to guarantee accountability.

Sarma wants real results. He told his staff to prioritize public satisfaction over mere paperwork. The Chief Minister expects administrative decisions to fix underlying grievances rather than just closing cases. "Sarma directed officials to look beyond the formal closure of files and ensure that administrative decisions actually resolve public grievances and improve citizen satisfaction."

The meeting also shifted to the state's flood recovery efforts. Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat remain the primary focus areas. The government is managing damage assessments alongside interim aid distribution. Crews are currently working on the restoration of schools and local Anganwadi Centres. Authorities are also processing bank moratoriums and insurance claims for residents. Medical and veterinary camps continue to operate across the flood-hit zones to provide emergency support to families.

Beyond the administrative shakeup, Sarma signaled a sense of urgency for the flood recovery effort. He ordered officials to stop dragging their feet on restoration work and to ensure that aid reaches every struggling family on time.
