Student Volunteers Repair 42 Flood-Hit Homes in Assam

Guwahati: Volunteers from the All Bodo Students Union fixed 42 homes wrecked by floods in Assam’s Sivasagar district. They finished the work during a three-day effort called Mission Home Rescue and Restore. Heavy flooding hit the area hard on July 19. It left buildings filled with mud, silt, and at risk of falling down.

The group sent 100 student volunteers to help. They split into 10 teams and hit the Majgaon and Projabosti villages. These spots suffered the worst of the damage. Workers stabilized structures, shoveled out thick sludge, and dug out essential belongings to make the houses livable again.

The organization released a statement regarding the ongoing crisis. "The catastrophic flood of July 19 has severely disrupted the lives of thousands in Sivasagar district. Through ‘Mission Home Rescue and Restore’, the All Bodo Students Union stands in firm solidarity with the affected communities," the group said. Volunteers plan to keep working until life returns to normal in the villages. They credited local residents, village elders, and ground coordinators for making the mission a success.
