Guwahati: Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurin Jyoti Gogoi attacked AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal on Monday, August 10. He slammed Ajmal for a viral report showing flood-hit women touching his feet during a relief handout. The act was a public spectacle. It stripped these women of their dignity during a time of extreme hardship.
Gogoi took to social media to blast the behavior as shameful and feudal. He argued that true charity requires compassion, not a power play. The AJP leader demanded an immediate and unconditional public apology from Ajmal for the incident.
The AJP president posed a sharp question to the AIUDF chief regarding the treatment of local residents. “Who gave Badruddin Ajmal the right to insult the self-respect of Assamese women?” he wrote. He warned that the people of Assam are tracking these actions closely.
Gogoi insisted that the state's heritage and social values matter more than simple handouts. He claimed the incident revealed a mindset that seeks to dominate vulnerable people. The politician closed by stating that Ajmal cannot escape accountability for disrespecting the dignity of the community.
