Guwahati: Padma Shri recipient Hemoprova Chutia visited AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal at his Hojai residence. The weaver brought a special handwoven textile displaying the National Anthem as a gift. Public interest grew as Ajmal faced backlash regarding his recent flood relief operations in Upper Assam.
Chutia aimed to clear the air. She addressed the speculation head-on. "I did not go there for politics. I went for a purely personal reason." The weaver insisted her presence carried no hidden agenda and threatened no community interests.
She defended Ajmal against his critics. Chutia noted that the AIUDF leader traveled to disaster zones despite his failing health and old age. She praised his personal efforts to hand out supplies to flood victims. She urged the public to stop stirring up controversy over humanitarian work.
