AIUDF Leader Accuses BJP of Rigging Nagaon Polls

Guwahati: Former Dhing MLA Aminul Islam has accused the BJP of rigging the Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll. He claims the party manipulated results to secure a victory for candidate Devasish Sharma, effectively stripping AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal of a win. Islam made these charges during a thanksgiving rally in Samaguri alongside Ajmal.

Islam alleged that BJP workers teamed up with independent agents to plant 16 to 20 people at single polling stations. He claims these operatives cast votes for individuals currently working outside Assam. The MLA stated, "People had elected Maulana Badruddin Ajmal as their MP, but the BJP forcibly ensured Devasish Sharma's victory." He further alleged the party fraudulently cast between one and two lakh votes belonging to Muslim workers living out of state.

The claims remain unverified and lack supporting evidence. During the same event, Hafiz Ilyas Hussain Ansari praised the political shift in Samaguri. Looking ahead, Ansari predicted a massive defeat for the BJP in Dhubri. He challenged opponents to witness the upcoming results, claiming the BJP will lose by a margin of 20 lakh votes.
