Congress Leader Accuses AIUDF of Helping BJP in Assam Bypoll

Guwahati: Congress leader Ripun Bora launched a sharp attack against the All India United Democratic Front in Guwahati. He claims the party acts as the B team for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The accusation follows the AIUDF decision to field a candidate early for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election. Bora insists this move is a calculated ploy to fracture the opposition. It seeks to pull minority voters away from Congress and weaken their foundation.

"It is an open secret that AIUDF is the B team of BJP in Assam," Bora said. He added that the party moved fast at the direction of the BJP to break the Congress support base among minority people.

AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal recently picked Rejaul Karim Sarkar to run for the seat. Sarkar is a former leader of the All Assam Minorities Students Union. The AIUDF had previously brushed off a request from Congress to form an alliance for this race. The Nagaon seat became vacant after the former Congress MP resigned from Parliament. That politician then switched sides to join the BJP. All eyes are now on the district as parties fight to hold their ground.
