Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Wushu Association wants the state government to step up. A delegation recently met Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Kento Jini to secure backing for two massive events: the 35th Junior National Wushu Championship and the upcoming 39th National Games in 2027.

Jini agreed to attend the junior tournament as the Guest of Honour. The association also intends to invite the chief minister to act as the Chief Guest. AAPWA members said, "hosting a national-level sporting event would be an opportunity for Arunachal Pradesh to showcase its organisational capabilities and sporting potential, while creating greater opportunities for local athletes."

The junior event will draw a crowd. Athletes and officials from 28 states, seven Union Territories, and various sports institutions will attend. Competitors from the Police, Army, Air Force, and Navy will also arrive. These matches serve as a trial run for the 2027 games where Arunachal Pradesh will co-host the Wushu events.

The association is pleading for cooperation from all corners. They want the chief minister, department heads, the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, and the Director of the Sports Authority to coordinate efforts. Success here relies on a unified front from state leadership to ensure smooth operations.
