Itanagar: Nyeman Wangsu takes the stage Monday. She represents India in the women’s Changquan final at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. The event begins at 5:30 am IST on September 21 at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.
Wangsu hails from Kanubari in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh. This appearance marks a major milestone. She is the first wushu athlete from the state to qualify for the Asian Games twice. Officials confirmed her spot in the Indian contingent for the 20th Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya.
The road here was tough. She was selected for the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, but missed out after facing problems with a stapled visa. She kept training through the setback. Now, she is a medal contender. The 20th Asian Games run from September 19 to October 4, featuring athletes across 43 sports.
