Kohima: Security personnel at the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Wokha wrapped up a 10-day training program on July 16. The course took place at the District Hospital. It aimed to prepare guards for handling sensitive cases involving survivors of violence. They learned how to coordinate with police, legal teams, and emergency responders.
Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao attended the closing event as the special guest. He serves as Chairperson of Mission Shakti. He told the audience, "the initiative marked an important step towards enhancing the quality of services provided by the One Stop Centre." He highlighted that guards play a major role in the safety and dignity of women in crisis.
Superintendent of Police T Relo Aye praised the center for its organized, clean environment. He noted that such spaces help survivors feel secure. Bonathung Ngullie, representing Mission Shakti and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, urged the staff to work with compassion and professionalism.
The training covered a wide range of skills. Guards drilled in situational awareness, access control, and de-escalation tactics. They practiced basic self-defense, rescue operations, and evacuation procedures. The curriculum also included legal awareness and gender sensitivity training. The event, chaired by Case Worker Chonbeni R. Ezung, finished with the distribution of certificates to the participants. Centre Administrator Thungbeni Kikon opened the day, and Legal Case Worker Nzammongi Odyuo gave the closing remarks.
