Agartala: Tripura Assembly Speaker Rampada Jamatia suspended Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman for the entire day on Monday. The move followed a heated dispute regarding the alleged suicide note of former state DGP Anurag Dhankar. The confrontation erupted shortly after the daily Question Hour concluded.
Roy Barman demanded to know why the note remained hidden. He cited claims from Dhankar's wife, who arrived in Agartala with a photograph of the document. He challenged the chamber directly: "Where is the suicide note? The wife of the DGP has the photograph of the suicide note. Why was the suicide note removed? Why was his uniform not checked properly? Who forced the DGP to commit suicide? We want this suicide note to be brought before the public."
Jamatia shut down the line of questioning. He claimed the investigation was already underway and accused the MLA of violating legislative rules. The Speaker warned the member to stop confusing the public. Tension spiked as Roy Barman and several CPI(M) legislators stormed the well of the House.
They refused to return to their seats despite multiple orders. Jamatia eventually ordered the suspension and called in police to physically remove the Congress legislator from the premises. The remaining Opposition members from the Congress and CPI(M) staged a walkout in response to the order. The mystery regarding the contents and location of the DGP's final note remains unresolved.
