Imphal: Police in Manipur’s Kamjong district seized 30 litres of illicit distilled indigenous country liquor on August 30. The bust followed intelligence from local Naga women regarding illegal shipments near the Myanmar border. Chassad Police Station officers stopped a Tata truck and took the driver into custody. They identified the man as 45-year-old Rafikuddin, son of Habibur Rahman, from Cachar, Assam. Officers poured the liquor out near the station gate. The investigation continues.
Security forces hit another target in Kakching district on August 29. A combined unit of the CDO Unit Kakching and the 46 Assam Rifles arrested two men for alleged extortion. They caught 26-year-old Yumnam Rohenjit Meitei, an active cadre of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup, at his home. Officials also grabbed his alleged accomplice, 26-year-old Shakachand Yumnam, at his residence.
The raid turned up a cache of military gear. Troops recovered 27 live INSAS rounds, two empty magazines, a BAOFENG handset, and a bulletproof jacket. Other seized items included two slings, tactical boots, and a pouch. The Manipur Police stated on social media, "The liquor was later destroyed by the team and Kamjong Womenfolk near..." Authorities are working to connect the men to wider criminal operations.

New details emerged regarding the Kamjong liquor bust. The driver, Rafikuddin, resides at Kanakpur Part-I in Binnakandi. The investigation into his supply chain remains active as authorities verify the origin and destination of the haul.
Regarding the arrests in Kakching, officials identified the KYKL cadre as Yumnam Rohenjit Meitei, alias Akui, son of Yumnam Ibomcha Meitei of Langmeidong Maning Mayai Leikai. His partner in the extortion scheme is Shakachand Yumnam, alias Chand, son of Yumnam Ibobi Singh of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai. Police recovered a single plate with the seized bulletproof jacket during the raid.
Security forces faced a separate alarm on August 31 when commuters spotted a hand grenade near a public toilet at Shija Hospital and Research Institute in Imphal West. A police bomb squad arrived around 7:30 am to retrieve the device. Investigators have yet to name a suspect or group behind the incident.

Beyond the Kamjong and Kakching operations, police notched another collar in Imphal East. A joint task force of CDO Imphal East, 4 Mahar, and 7 Madras Regiment tracked down 29-year-old Yensenbam Bungomacha Meitei in Angtha Khongnangkhong. Authorities identified him as an active member of the RPF/PLA and have him in custody for further questioning.

In an additional security sweep on August 31, a Special CDO Unit team tracked down Irom Naotiba Meitei in the Imphal East district. Intelligence identified the 30-year-old, son of Irom Hemanta Meitei, as a self-styled Lance Corporal and active member of the KCP-MFL. Officers pulled him from his residence in Yaingangpokpi Shantikhongbal during a cordon and search operation.
